Hello
I'm Jason, I started my first business aged 17 from my college bedroom. It wasn't ground-breaking and I made huge mistakes but it was the springboard to a second company at 19 that achieved global sales.
Since then I've been starting, turning around and growing companies mainly in the creative, branding, marketing and business development sector. From 2 people working from home to a 38 person agency through to growing a 15 people team in a London office to 400 employees with offices worldwide.
18 years ago other SME business owners started asking me for help, tips, ideas, strategies and I started my coaching and mentoring career. My passion is improving the performance and results of SME companies and corporate teams. The results I've achieved from this have meant that I've been invited to, and have worked with some of the worlds largest brands but SME turnarounds is my core work.
I've won multiple business coaching awards and I'm globally accreditation with the WABC, ILM & BCA. I assess and mark the papers of the trainee coaches passing through The Business Coaching Academy and I'm BIMAs resident coach overseeing their globally respected mentoring program.
My Story
You have to start somewhere
I set up my first business at 17 while at college. In short, buying reject pizzas from a local factory and selling them to hungry students. Not groundbreaking by any means, but it taught me a huge amount about business. Growth at this stage meant buying a chest freezer, delivery bike and eventually a van. More importantly, this little pizza business gave me the knowledge and confidence to develop my next idea.
Competing with Filofax
At 19, I designed and manufactured a range of products to compete with the global brand ‘Filofax’ (for those who remember them). My first order (from WH-Smith) was manufactured in my bedroom in Tring, Hertfordshire, and the business quickly grew big enough to win several innovation & business awards. Within 18 months the range sold through many major UK and European retailers, including Liberty’s and Selfridges, as well as being used as commercial folders and gifts by brands like Mercedes Benz and Shell Oil. I sold the business 4 years after starting it to a global stationery retailer.
Growing companies
Over the last 30+ years, I’ve started, grown and turned around several businesses. From the seed of an idea to an office of 35 people and from a small company of 15 people to 400 with offices all over the world. Always with a focus on client relationships, growth and developing teams of people that work well together. Yes, I've had some success but along the way, I've absolutely learnt the most from my many expensive mistakes.
Coaching & Mentoring
For the last 18 years, I've been business coaching and mentoring. Realising this was my absolute passion, in 2015 I decided to do this full-time. From SME business owners to senior executives in some of the world's largest brands. The people I work with usually know that learning never stops & to reach their optimum performance they need to be challenged. Most spend large parts of their day/week managing people & teams as well as doing their primary job. They understand the importance of company culture, team morale and individual performance but often struggle and find it hard to implement change when things aren't going so well.
And that's where I come in... I ask the questions many won't & yes I’m straight-talking however I am hugely positive, always constructive & make it my mission to really understand each client and their business so that I can significantly improve their performance, and the companies results.
